What – Social- Café & Bar
Where – Nehru Place, New Delhi, India.
Why – Because it’s different and we always like change when it’s awesome.
In these modern times, we are connected in more ways than one can handle and yet we hardly talk to our near and dear ones. The joy of physically being present and having a verbal exchange with people seems such a task.
And this is where Social! comes in. We are ever present online but Social aims to help people create on offline presence by providing a means to meet and socialize just like the good old days before the advent of internet & Android. Social has a presence at 4 locations in the city i.e. Hauz Khas, Defence Colony, Odeon (Connaught Place) and the latest hangout opening in Nehru Place, just below the metro station.
The entrance is reminiscent of a typical Nehru Place alley, with walls adorned with pamphlets & flyers advertising laptops, software, PC games – basically anything & everything which relates to the world of computers.
However, the interiors are a totally different ball game. While one section of Social seems like part of an amphitheater or a sports stadium, another section is quite secluded feeling as if you are in a cabin of a ship.
The décor inside Social screams creativity as you see chairs hanging from ceiling, seating booths shaped in the form of amusement park rides, bar stools with unicycles for bottoms, walls painted with traffic symbols & napkin holders in the form of toilet paper rolls. Rest is for you to explore.
Coming to the food, the menu seems enticing with some unique names to drinks & the dishes. A must try cocktail, the Banarasi Patiala, a heady mix of sugarcane juice and 90 ml of the spirit of your choice is a concoction which even the connoisseurs will appreciate. Another must try is the Bombay Bhel Puri salad, which is sure to tingle your taste buds with that tamarind taste. Some other dishes like the Awesomosas & the Sexy Sauteed Tenderloin Chunks are sure to catch your fancy.
The dishes & drinks are served in an “out of the box” manner which will surely intrigue you and keep you guessing. The staff is courteous and wait list for the tables is systematic with updates being sent to your mobile as you move up the waiting queue. The place has an outdoor seating as well in case you are in the mood to enjoy the weather.
The music was a bit of let down, with some confusing EDM and trance tracks playing in the background.
All in all, visit Social for a unique, vibrant and awesome experience and make a point to not only plan on WhatsApp but also physically be there to enjoy each other’s company.
