Bill Vaughan said, ‘ An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.’
Every year, you end with dedicating substantial minutes to consider what version of yourself we would like to cultivate in the new year. You think you would like to eat better. To have more adventures. To take more risks. To learn new things. Maybe to shift to a new city. Each January, roughly one out of every three people resolve to better themselves in some way. But a much smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions. People stick to their goal for at least a week and give up. Very few are still on target six months later. I agree that it is hard to keep up the enthusiasm months after you have swept up the confetti, but it’s not impossible. This year pick up a worthy resolution and stick to it for your own benefit.
New year resolutions are a bit like babies. They are fun to make but difficult to maintain. But with the hope that you do justice to your resolution, Team Enlightenment wishes you a very happy & Prosperous New Year, 2017.
Before starting with the new year’s first edition, I would like to mention a few remarkable achievements about our last year’s journey. Within the team, it has been a year of “Good Bye’s” and “Welcome!”. Enlightenment was revamped with a New Theme. New sections like creations and travel were introduced. What we have achieved is an over-whelming response from our readers in and out of campus. Enlightenment went ahead to be part of LnT Dhanush’s Literary wing. And with the motivation, support and appreciation of Freedom of Expression from Mr. D. S. Kapoor, we achieved to launch uninterrupted editions. Enlightenment has started rewarding the Winners of Picture of the Month Contest and will bring many more such surprises in days to come.
Thanking all the readers for their continuous support through contributions or readership. We wish to keep enlightening your path in future. Your love and affection for the magazine is all we hope for!
We are starting our new Year’s journey with our new Editor-In-Chief, respected Mr. Prem Prakash Akhauri Sir (Head HR, LTMHPS). To know more about him, visit IN-Focus.
In this edition, team Enlightenment has tried to bring back the best fives (selected based on the number of views) of writer’s corner, reviews and also @ Home for you. Look into each sections for these flashbacks.
This edition we have poems as well as articles in our Writers’ corner section. Our very own Cafe 4 Break is celebrating its first anniversary. Find more about that. The adventurous experience of Rishikesh river rafting is well penned by one of our colleague. A short story of 9/11 is also there in store for you. Other than that, we have an article on Aleppo. For Yash Raj Films lovers, we have a review of the great movie Lamhe starring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor, the favorite jodi of many. In travel section, know more about a team picnic to Damdama lake by LnT SnL group. We also have a beautiful tour of Bhutan nicely written by one of our team member.
Last but not the least, the new year edition has got something new to it: the much awaited Video Blog section named as VLOG. This section will showcase short videos.
Hope you enjoy reading Enlightenment as much as we did presenting it to you!!!
