Me Too

By Shruti Vairagkar (L&T Howden)

I’m damned if I speak up,

I’m damned if I don’t.

I speak

Not for attention and medals,

But for justice

My agony, my pain

Exposed

To tell the world the truth,

Not for your judgement

Or amusement.

I don’t speak

Because I am scared

Of retaliation

Of my truth getting

Denied

Of the labels and

Heedless questions.

Mama taught me,

Never trust a stranger.

Instead I should have learnt,

Never trust a human.

I’m damned if I speak up

I’m damned if I don’t.
