Emancipation

-By Priyarupa Sinha (L&T-MHPS)

I have decided to stop cursing the almighty for who I am,

I have decided to stop begging for inclusivity,

I have decided to stop waiting for acceptance and validation…

I have decided to celebrate the women inside me.

My hand no longer shivers when I apply a lipstick,

My conscience no longer stops me from wearing a saree,

My eyes no longer shies away when I look at myself in the mirror…

I have decided to celebrate the women inside me.

The shame has lingered for long,

The gender dysphoria has hurt me enough,

I deserve better than the hate and bitterness…

I have decided to celebrate the women inside me.

I may not have delicate shoulders or a tiny waistline,

I may not shed blood every month,

I know I do not fit into the ideal criteria for femininity but I identify as woman…so

I have decided to celebrate the women inside me.
