Vinit Malik
Infocus – Covering Mr. Vinit Malik, who by profession is an Engineer but by passion is a true BIKER.

A small interactive session with Vinit will give you insights about his passion & his perspective on life without adventure.

Please introduce yourself…..

I am a Piping Engineer at LTEN Faridabad, married & settled in Delhi. My father was in Airforce & mother, a house wife. I had a love marriage with a woman who was very well a part of L&T Faridabad. My wife Tanya Sharma is a Rally Driver who is a car enthusiast & has been actively participating in National Championships.

I remember sitting with friends and wondering how monotonous my life has become. Mundane routine & I felt something is missing in my life.

What made you think to follow your passion religiously?

Around six years ago, I remember sitting with friends and wondering how monotonous my life has become. Mundane routine & I felt something is missing in my life. Plus my father was in Airforce. I have been travelling since my childhood and exploring India with my parents.

In 2011, I finally enrolled myself with India Bull Riders group. I found myself a part of a mad group who are living their dream & passion day-in day-out.

What has been your ‘Ride of my Life’?

My ride to Spitti and Ladhak in 2014 was the Ride of my life. The mesmerizing landscapes, the hypnotic water of Tso Moriri lake, the thrill & adventure to ride on a difficult terrain of Spitti was unexplainable.

What all places have you travelled so far?

I have been to Kerala with my wife on my Honeymoon. It was One and a half months trip to Kerala on bike. Have covered Himachal Pradesh & Rajasthan which gives your bike immense scope to explore & go wild. Most of Uttaranchal has been covered except Yamnotri Gangotri. My next planned bike trip is to Bangalore & Goa. Plan to explore Northeast, Zanskar Valley & Interiors of Srinagar in next two years.

I regularly go for weekend biking to charge myself which keeps me alive for the entire week. For me weekend getaways are Jim Corbett, Yamuna Expressway, Chandigarh, Jaipur Highways etc…..

Were there any big highlights, any downsides or unexpected complications which you would have faced?

When a group of bikers is out for any kind of journey, an unsaid rule prevails which is of a Lead & a Tail. Both lead and tail of the group are experienced bikers and are fixed for the entire trip.

The road to Spitti is almost non – existing. The spellbinding landscape comes with unexpected, thrilling and adventurous roads. While we were on it, couple of landslides happened in front of us but nothing alarming. Right after 5 minutes around 100 m, we saw the hill almost coming down like an avalanche of snow falling apart. We were stuck for few hours after which we decide to take a chance to cross it & we finally did. The best part about the entire thing was that none of us panicked instead we started clicking pictures of the hill which was slowly sliding down the road.

The second thrilling experience happened when our Tail fell down the hill along with the bike. It was quite an experience to bring goose bumps to anyone who wishes to travel to Spitti.  All safe and sound in the end.

What is your guiding light or what drives you to follow your passion?

I feel the way you are brought up matters a lot.

The enthusiasm & self-belief which has been infused by my family including my wife is an enormous support and a guiding force to follow my passion. Though my family has always been sceptical about bike rides but still have been supportive in all my endeavours.

Don’t make your life a routine life, fill up your life with adventure & thrill.

Any message for the audience who is reading your writeup….

Don’t make your life a routine life, fill up your life with adventure & thrill. Let your life breathe and fill it with memorable moments, moments which can make you smile.
