Road Romeo

By Ayush Jain (LT MHPS)

From the name, it seems as if it is a perfect place love crazy couples. But don’t let the name deceive you. Perched on the top of  “Kulfiano”, this cozy restaurant in Defence Colony, New Delhi, India is a treat for all the senses.

Still relatively unknown to people, one usually gets a booking at this place without much effort. Easy to locate, Road Romeo can serve all purposes, whether it be fine dining with the family or enjoying drinks or hookah with friends.  However, the establishment is split into two levels to separate the hookah loving crowd.

The interior and the décor are welcoming to say the least. Comfortable seating, innovative lighting and a splash n dash of unique & complementing colors each other make it a delight for the eyes.

The restaurant specializes in Kashmiri & Hyderabadi cuisine including a fusion of two. So for all non-vegetarian & Biryani fanatics, this place is literally heaven for you. Having said that, the veggie lovers need not worry (being a vegetarian myself), Road Romeo also has a lot of scrumptious vegetarian options as well.  The restaurant starts you off with a complimentary drink. And then you can dig in from wide a selection of starters & main course dishes.

Among the starters, Popeye Veg Mix – an assortment of vegetables in a creamy spinach sauce and Veg 65, a Hyderabadi special which is mouth watering-ly spicy, are definitely worth a try. “Dum ke Bhutte” is another option you could try out. For the non-vegetarians, Tabakh Maaz, Kursi Miyane & Chicken Majestic are some great options.

For the main course, Chicken & Hyderabadi Biryani, Mutton Roganjosh & Kashmiri Trami should not be missed. These are just some of the items to try, there’s huge array of items for the non-vegetarians on the menu which you should visit and try for yourself.

For the vegetarians, though the main course offers less variety, the dishes are well cooked and will definitely tantalize your taste buds. Kashmiri Dum Aloo, Chowgra ( a spicy veggie mix from Hyderbabad), Methi Chaman Hariyali (Paneer dish with a spinach gravy), Lal Paneer & Vegetable Biryani should be tried out.

Apart from the above-mentioned, Tandoori delicacies, Chinese cuisines and a full fledged bar is also available.

The music compliments the whole ambiance of the place and is loud enough to be enjoyed and at the same time, not so loud to disturb your conversation.

The service is prompt and friendly. The staff is well informed on the dishes and the menu and is polite and courteous. They even inform you if you’ve ordered extra portions and provide recommendations for appropriate portions for the table.

Lastly, the menu is pocket friendly and they offer a 20% dine out discount as well.

All in all, I would highly recommend to visit Road Romeo for an enjoyable and delicious evening.
