Local – Restaurant Review

Local, located at 11, KC Marg, Scindia House is yet another fine addition to the ever growing club and lounge culture of Delhi’s heart Connaught Place. Located close to Metro stations – Rajiv Chowk, Janpath and Barakhamba Road, it is a popular destination for a casual dining experience.

Located at the corner of the street, Local is tough to miss out due to its wooden exterior finish. The door on the street opens to a resto bar hosting good music in its large space. The interiors welcome you with low lighting for a feast of food. There is ample seating which is spread across two floors. However, the restaurant lacks outdoor seating, which would have been an instant appeal in the winter months. Nonetheless looking into the polluted weather, we were okay with a covered area. The manager is very courteous and instantly found us a perfect seating area – a round table meant for a group of 8. There are mixed seating arrangement from chairs to recliners to stools.  It’s advisable to make prior reservations to avoid queues.

The menu offers North Indian and Continental cuisine with option among between various Veg and Non-veg items. The names of the items in the Menu are worth a read some of which read as – Gandhiji Masala Bread omelette, Bharatiya Italian Chicken Wings, Dilli 110006 Karigar ki Biriyani and so on. The food has a unique taste. After a lot of discussion we concluded on ordering a few simple dishes like – “Thapa style Veg Spring Rolls”, “Paneer Picacante Pizza”, “Veggie Lovers Pizza”, “3rd Degree Peri Peri Butterfly chicken”, “Penne Cheese Sauce”, “Triple Cheese Italian lasagne”.

The Spring Rolls had a thin coating and were crispy. It served as a good appetizer which made us want the pizzas that were to arrive next. The Butterfly Chicken was served with mashed potatoes and some sautéed vegetables. It was an instant hit among the non-vegetarians due to its nice taste.  The Creamy Pasta was equally tasty and by the time we moved on to the lasagne, we were full.

The food was served with minimum waiting time and left me with a craving to visit the place once more. We savoured the taste of Continental and to some degree Chinese food with an edge. The service was equally warm. We were immediately attended to by smiling waiters who guided us through the menu in complete detail.

The Price of the food is reasonable (like most other food joints in the heart of the city). A full course meal for two should at max range between Rs 1200 – Rs 1400 (without alcohol). What we would have loved was an additional discount on credit cards which was not available in this place.

Overall, Local is a great place to hang out with friends and has a great dining experience with food of exquisite flavours. It is thriving with the young crowd who choose it as a popular destination for celebrations of Birthdays or other events. For this reason, I would strongly recommend you to go to Local.
