Life – A Paradox

By Arshi Zaki (L&T-MHPS)

Mesmerising,

cold yet warm,

this life never fails

to amaze me.

Blending,

aches and irks

with cheer and leisure

in great harmony.

Hustling,

through irony,

faking most of it

to hide the melancholy.

Gambling,

letting out

my trust on stake

for an undefined lottery.

Examining,

often and occasionally,

my spine, devotion and will

to hold on with glee.

Preluding,

from unconscious

to futile consciousness,

composing a symphony.

Unfolding,

the falsehood of the truth

and the truth of the lie

in the course of matinee.

Unveiling,

the plastic faces

of those near and dear,

sorting out the worthy.

Concluding,

on yet another

hazy and foggy,

astigmatic scenery.

Mesmerizing,

with multiple phases,

a rendezvous of hues,

awestruck, life renders me.
