Pride against Prejudice

By Priyarupa Sinha ( L&T-MHPS)

Today,  I am no longer illegal.

State will no longer intrude in my personal matters ,

It will no longer dictate my personal choices,

It will no longer challenge my sexual orientation.

Today , my fundamental right is finally recognized.

Today , my fear and pain ended.

I will no longer be seen as a  criminal now ,

I will no longer hide my homosexuality ,

I will no longer be mocked for my prolonged struggle.

Today , my respect and dignity is restored.

Today , I only hope for a receptive audience .

For it’s time for attitudes to change ,

it’s time to eliminate the stigma faced over the years ,

it’s time to empower us  against any discrimination.

Today , I hope for a complete equality.
